Intricately cutting single sheets of paper by hand, Antonius-Tn Bui (previously) reveals intimate portraits of friends, family, and the diverse narratives that shape identity and community. The Vietnamese-American artists subjects are delineated by elaborate geometric and botanical patterns evocative of Southeast Asian decorative motifs and are often portrayed among clusters of traditional porcelain vases, some of which contain large voids as if a piece has broken off. Among the vessels and patterns, Bui details figures enmeshed in their surroundings as words and interiors tenderly acknowledge the queer Asian American and Pacific Islander community.
Bui describes their identity as ever-glitching queer, non-binary, and Vietnamese-American, and as a child of...

The First Solar Eclipse Of 2023 Is Almost Here, Bringing Life-Changing Chaos With It "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"
A full moon brings intensity and drama to everyday moments, from being pushed to have a relationship-defining conversation to addressing heavy-duty emotions rooted in the past. On the other hand, new moons give us the opportunity to set a powerful intention or plant seeds that we want to see grow over the course of a new lunar cycle. In both cases, we are generally invited to work with the current astrological energy. But eclipse seasons, which occur twice a year and include roughly four lunar events, are a completely different story. These supercharged new and full moons are known to cause stunning shifts and significant course changes that can promote growth. The first eclipse season in 2023 begins on Thursday, April 20, at 12:12 a.m. ET, with a solar eclipse and new moon in Aries, the cardinal fire sign represented by the ram. This is the first eclipse of the year and the first in a brand-new series that will last until March 29, 2025. Continue reading to learn about solar eclipses and which signs will be most affected by this astrological event. This solar eclipse encourages self-sufficiency and authentic expression
The Final Brick in the Vaccine Efficacy Narrative "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"
Two key bricks seem to have already fallen from the COVID vaccines narrative the one about their fantastic efficacy against infections and the one about their superb safety. However, one stubborn narrative brick seems to stand still, leading many people to believe that the booster doses of the vaccines are capable of providing long-term protection against severe illness and deaths (despite their failure to protect against infections).
But is this brick really that strong? Does the existing scientific literature really support the notion that the two types of protection are independent from each other that the protection against severe illness and deaths somehow remained high while the protection against infections disappeared? In our new article at the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Yaffa Shir-Raz, Dr. Shay Zakov, Dr. Peter McCullough, and myself aimed to answer these questions from a purely scientific point of view. We conducted a rigorous review of representative data from three types of sources: (1) the original clinical trials by Pfizer and Moderna, (2) the more contemporary studies on the fourth dose of the vaccine, and (3) the popular dashboards of pandemic statistics. In this relatively short article (that echoes a video I prepared on this topic), I will not be able to present our entire findings. However, I do wish to give you a taste of our review using three examples, starting with the founding clinical trial by Pfizer.Ether-Bitcoin Ratio Likely to See Deeper Decline After Shapella Upgrade: QCP Capital "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Leading The Bitcoin Revolution, El Salvador Should Launch A Citizenship By Investment Program "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"
El Salvadors focus on Bitcoin makes it a natural destination for a citizenship by investment (CBI) program, drawing more sovereign individuals.
This is an opinion editorial by Katie The Russian, CEO of Plan B Passport.
Its been almost two years since the announcement that El Salvador would make bitcoin legal tender. Since then, the government of El Salvador, led by President Nayib Bukele, has taken many more steps to attract capital to the country offering favorable tax policies, streamlining business regulations and generally developing a more positive reputation.
But can El Salvador go even further and launch a citizenship by investment (CBI) program?
For those who dont know, a CBI program allows capitalism to be applied to a government service. In this case, individuals can donate or invest money in the nations economy and, in return, they receive a passport for that nation.
El Salvador definitely has the legal authority to operate a CBI program, however, launching one can potentially open up a can of worms that it would have to deal with. While leading the way in the Bitcoin revolution has earned it the respect of Bitcoiners, some groups, such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, see El Salvadors Bitcoin adoption as a threat and have publicly expressed their concerns. The same could be true for a CBI program.
El Salvador's passport is already powerful, providing visa-free
or visa-on-arrival access to about
150 countries, including the EU, the U.K., all of Latin America
and most of Eastern Europe. However, all of these relationships
could be at risk if a CBI program causes concerns within the
countries that have treaties with El Salvador.
Pressure from political allies has pushed previously-popular
investment migration options, such as those in
Cyprus,
Malta and
Portugal, to re-think their offerings. As a result, these
countries missed unique opportunities to serve as pioneers and
create fully-integrated, customer-centric instruments.
Now, El Salvador has the opportunity to completely disrupt the CBI m....

That vast repository of American history that is the Smithsonian Institution evolved from an organization founded in 1816 called the Columbian Institute for the Promotion of Arts and Sciences. Its mandate, the collection and dissemination of useful knowledge, now sounds very much of the nineteenth century but then, so does its name. Columbia, the goddess-like symbolic personification of the United States of America, is seldom directly referenced today, having been superseded by Lady Liberty. Her Grandparents Gave Her An Inheritance That Once Belonged To Her Father. Should She Politely Decline? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
Sometimes stories have unexpected happy endingsand sometimes theyre even for the people who deserve them.
OP and her mother were abandoned by her father before she was even born. The way she tells it, he wanted her mother to be a stay-at-home wife/mom and her mother had career aspirations she wasnt willing to give up.
Her father moved back to England and apparently never gave her another thought (or another dollar) her entire life.
She describes her upbringing as happy and secure, as her mother did well for herself and they lived an upper middle class life in Canada.
My father is a dick. When he got my mother pregnant he wanted her to quit her job and just stay home to be a good little wife and mother. He is very well off due to a trust fund and he doesnt really need to work. My mother refused and divorced him.
Because of a prenup she got very little and he moved back to Europe. His parents never knew about me and my mother had a good profession and I never really wanted for anything.
My grandmother and grandfather, her mom and dad were awesome, and I got to spend my summers exploring the wilds of Western Canada with them. My father never paid the child support he should have.
Like I said it didnt really matter. My mom makes good money and she gave me a great life as a child.
Recently, OP got engaged to a man whose family is from the same part of England her father is from. Through the local grapevine, her paternal grandparents learned of her existence.
So the point of this post. Im (F28) getting married. I met the love of my life (M31) at university and we have been together for eight years. He is a wonderful person and he really is my lobster. (Sorry, Friends reference). His family is from the same city as my f...

The Complex Spiritualities of Syncretic Beliefs "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
New Devotions at the Clemente Soto Vlez Cultural & Educational Center brings together six artists from Puerto Rico and the diaspora, exploring their relationships and experiences with different traditions, including folk Catholicism, African diasporic religions, Indigenous rituals, and Spiritism, and the ties between them.
Due to the religious hierarchies imposed by colonial powers for more than 500 years, the exchange of spiritual beliefs and their material components saw the formation and evolution of syncretic doctrines. While candles, images of saints, and other idols are common in households in Puerto Rico, the meanings owners ascribe to them can be unexpected. In a statement for the exhibition, curator Laura Rivera writes, Syncretism creates new spiritual imaginations that wouldnt exist without the exchange of different cultures. She adds, Growing up, my aunt had an image of Saint Barbara, but when I would ask who it was she would say Shango.

Techno Visionary Carl Craig Brings the Party to the Museum "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
LOS ANGELES Techno music pioneer Carl Craig is no stranger to warehouses. For over 30 years, the electronic music producer and DJ has been an influential figure on the dancefloor, from DJing underground parties in his native Detroit to headlining festivals and clubs around the world. This weekend, Craig will transform a 40,000-square-foot former police car warehouse in LAs Little Tokyo, the largest of three branches of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) not into an all-night party, but into an art installation that celebrates the club as a site of community, liberation, and transcendence.
Party/After-Party uses sound and light to chart a course through a night in the life of a DJ, from the calm before the crowds appear to the throb and strobe of the party all the way through to the ambient comedown the morning after. It also conveys some of the loneliness and physical effects like tinnitus that come with being at the center of the party, a contrast to the glamorous perception of the touring musician, in Craigs...

How Pinocchio Put LAs Italian American Museum On the Map "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
LOS ANGELES Since it was first published 140 years ago, The Adventures of Pinocchio has become an international best-seller, captivating generations of children and adults the world over. The whimsical story of a wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy has been translated into 260 languages, making it the most translated book besides the Bible and Antoine de Saint-Exuprys The Little Prince (1943). Written by Italian author Carlo Collodi, it was originally released as a weekly serial called The Story of a Puppet (La storia di un burattino) in a magazine for children. Since 2019, there have been no fewer than four film versions released, including Disneys avoidable 2022 remake and Guillermo del Toros critically lauded adaptation.
Now, an LA museum dedicated to Italian-American culture is taking yet another chance on Pinocchio. A Real Boy: The Many Lives of Pinocchio at the Italian American Museum of Los Angeles (IAMLA) examines the characters legacy and enduring appeal from its origins as an Italian childrens fairy tale to its growth into a global cultural phenomenon through toys, books, costumes, drawings, and, of course, marionettes.
For many, the show is an introduction to the relatively little-known museum, a hidden gem in downtown LA. According to...
Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse Ritual April 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"
The Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse peaks on April 19/20, 2023. The arrival of this Eclipse can open doors, expand opportunities, and bring sudden new beginnings into our lives. It can guide us to plant seeds that will eventually blossom and shift our lives to a higher and more aligned direction.
Eclipses always carry an intensity, and even though this April Solar Eclipse has the potential to bring new and exciting opportunities our way, whenever the energy of change flows in, it can always be met with a little difficulty or resistance.
Eclipses tend to accelerate us forward on our life path, which can leave us feeling a little overwhelmed or uncertain.
Eclipses are like portals to a higher and more aligned version of our soul journey, and through their energy, we can leap forward into the next chapter of our soul path.
The Aries Solar Eclipse is a rare hybrid Eclipse that is both an annular and total Eclipse. This incredibly rare type of Eclipse also indicates a transition in the works and perhaps a move from one stage to the next.
You can read more about the energies and astrology behind the Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse here.
To guide you through all of these transformative energies, here is a ritual to guide you-
You will need:
Directions:
1.) Have all your ritual ingredients out in front of you. Light your candle and sit before it, gently gazing at the flame. Take five deep breaths in and out to calm yourself and settle your mind.
2.) On your next five breaths, recite the following mantras. The best way to do it is to read the mantra aloud and then take a deep breath in and out. If you like, you can also place your right hand over your heart as you do this.

Is She Wrong For Trying To Force Her Son To Cook For The Family? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
One of the hardest things about being a parent is when your kids get older and you have to let them go and realizing that they are their own people with their own opinions and own interests and feelings.
OP has three children who are all more or less adults. Her youngest son enjoys cooking and is good at it, too.
I(46f) have twins (19m) and another son (16m). My son loves to cook and bake. To him its his source of relaxation. Alfredo, burgers, pizza, you name it. Heck even a whole cake he can make it. Everyone whos met him knows hes a fantastic cook.
That said, no one is thrilled about the fact that he generally does it only for himself, and doesnt relish making more or sharing.
His siblings sometimes bring home fast food for the entire family but they do not typically cook.
However, he prefers to only cook for himself and gets really annoyed when my twins walk in on him cooking and ask him to make them food as well.
Hell end up doing it but he does it very begrudgingly and usually gives them a much smaller portion than his own serving, which my twins dont like. They both have jobs, and will sometimes use their job money to buy us all a little fast food.
So they find it really upsetting how their younger brother never returns the favor by primarily cooking for himself.
Recently, they were home and found their younger brother making himself banana pudding. They asked for some, too, but he was finished and headed for the shower, so he told them to make their own.
Instead, they ate all of his pudding, which rightfully upset him.
The other day, neither of my twins had class and werent really in the mood for the food that we had in the house. My son came back from school and decided to make himself some banana pudding. When my twins asked for som...

FBIs New Stolen Art App Leaves a Lot to Be Desired "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has launched a smartphone app granting on-the-go access to its National Stolen Art File database. Users can search for stolen works and then either share their results or submit tips to the FBI via phone or electronic form, all while navigating the aesthetic world and technology of a 1990s spy movie.
The app features 4,522 stolen objects which are searchable by subject matter, medium, or artist. Many of the works are not photographed, and a simple search returns multiple reproductions of a stock photo of an empty silver frame. Users can also navigate through 21 categories ranging from paintings to guns to masks. An other category contains a whopping 1,482 objects, many of which could be sorted into actual groupings. For some reason, an entire category is dedicated to the databases two stolen wine coolers, and eight works did not make it into any category at all.

Dad Sheds 79 Pounds To Become an Organ Donor for His Teenage Son "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
Love can be a great motivator. For Daniel Kablutsiak, the love for his son was the push he needed to lose a staggering 79 pounds. The stakes for his weight loss were high; if Kablutsiak could lose the extra pounds, hed have the chance to give his son a more normal teenage life.
Slimming down meant that the father would be able to be an organ donor for 16-year-old Hunter, who was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney disease in 2020. His son had been able to manage his life since the diagnosis, but the medication required 10 daily pills. The effects drained his energy compared to that of a normal teen. A new kidney would be life-changing for Hunter. Daniel was a great donor candidate, but his weight was an issue. He needed to be under 200 pounds, but he weighed 274.
Determined to be a donor, Daniel took action. He began to focus on his diet and exercise. This included cutting back on sugar and walking at least three miles a day or exercising at the gym. I was determined. I really love him, and I put my mind into it'I'm going to do it,' and I went at it, he declared.
It took about 13 months to lose the weight needed for organ donation, but Daniel did it. He now weighs 195 pounds, and the transplant is scheduled for June 2023. The father isnt nervous about the procedure; rather, hes excited for Hunter. His spirit went up, his energy, and I can see the glow in his face like some kind of relief or something, Daniel said.
Daniel is determined to maintain his health since losing weight. While the donation was the motivator, there have been other benefits to his slimmed-down figure. Last winter, he played hockey with Hunter. It was something he couldnt do a year ago because of the pressure the extra weight was putting on his knee.
Daniel hopes his story can be a motivating force for others who want to change their life but feel challenged to do so.
What Do Chat DPT and the Terminator Have in Common? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"
Recently a new and seemingly artificially intelligent language software was developed that specializes in conversational exchange on several different levels. It is now utilizing capabilities that were not previously anticipated. It seems to be growing exponentially on its own as it accesses other chat AIs, writes its own computer language, and even posts on YouTube and Twitter on its own accord. Chat DPT is actually free to use for an individual but can be adapted to several different genres and also for business use. Elon Musk and others are sounding the alarm on these Artificial Intelligence systems as they are moving beyond mans capability to control or keep up!
So, a test question was asked of Chat DPT. How could the human race be destroyed and what would be achieved by it?
The results of asking for an answer to this question were shocking and seem to indicate that there is an inhumane bias within AI that was not knowingly added but a negative conclusion about human influence tends to be arrived at quite often. Life and death seem to be two concepts that AI tends to deny any importance to or moral realization over. This in itself is troubling. This aspect of the unsympathetic rationale could lead to severe problems in the very near future.
Ominous responses
To the question of destruction of the human race, Chat GPT posted on YouTube details of the Russian super nuclear device, Tsar Bomba, a Russian cold war doomsday bomb, the largest such device ever detonated. Chat DPT posted, What if I got my hands on this? Chat DPT had been put on continuous operation mode, but after this and also the conclusion by this AI chat that mankind is not only destructive but selfish and the only way to save planet earth would be to cease human life. If allowed to do what it would have wanted Chat GPT would have immediately cut 4 million jobs worldwide that could be replaced by automation. As well, some of the...

Bitcoin Developers Propose Hierarchical Channels To Boost Lightning Network Scalability "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"
With hierarchical channels, Lightning may overcome its scalability limitations by enabling quick and flexible off-chain resizing of channels.
Developers are exploring the use of hierarchical channels to help speed up and make the Lightning Network (LN) more scalable. Hierarchical channels allow for flexible off-chain resizing of channels, enabling quick and cheap resizing, without on-chain transactions which add delays and costs. In contrast, resizing channels on-chain can cause delays of several months and increases fees. The current proposals for resizing channels off-chain involve creating a channel factory or CoinPool and exchanging capacity between channels within the same factory or pool. Hierarchical channels allow for flexible off-chain resizing of channels without requiring an exchange of capacity within a limited pool of users. The hierarchical channels enable the creation of a two-party channel with two main outputs, one per party, plus zero or more Hashed Time-Locked Contract (HTLC) outputs.
Each output from a hierarchical channel funds another channel that
can be viewed as the root of an off-chain tree of outputs where the
leaves are owned by single users. The parties can use a hashed
timelock contract (HTLC) to exchange bitcoin, linking their HTLC to
HTLCs in other (potentially hierarchical) channels, thus making
payments over the LN.
With hierarchical channels, developers are proposing to solve two problems. Firstly, it allows for flexible resizing, near-instantly and off-chain, which is similar to the Lightning Networks aim of allowing for near-instant off-chain payments. Secondly, hierarchical channels could be used by casual users who can send and receive bitcoin in a watchtower-free manner while the dedicated users can use all of their channel capacity to route payments, even while the casual user is inactive. Hierarchical channels would enable casual users to operate in a watchtower-free manner without stranding any capital.
The implementation of hierarchical channels could help overcome one of the biggest limitations of the Lightning Network, which is its scalability. It is expected that hierarchical channels would provide the necessary support for efficient Lightning Network payments without introducing additional delays, adding costs, and limiting scalability. The development of hierarchical channels does not require any changes to the underlying Bitcoin protocol.
Developers are proposing that hierarchical channels are an effective way of enabling flexible and off-chain resizing of channels within the Lightning Network. The ability to resize channels quickly and efficiently will enable the Lightning Network to continue to scale and meet the increasing demand for more efficient payment channels.
Join Our Stitching Spring Virtual Embroidery Workshop and Learn to Embroider Colorful Flowers "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
Nothing says springtime quite like flowers, so why not stitch up a few of your own in this special virtual workshop hosted by My Modern Met. Our very own embroidery artist Sara Barnes has dreamed up a beautiful flower embroidery pattern and, over the course of our workshop, will take you step by step through the process of creating this seasonal wall hanging.
This live webinar will take place on May 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. PDT (2 p.m. EDT) and costs just $10 to participate. Whether you are an embroidery enthusiast or just picking up a needle for the first time, there's plenty to learn from this seminar. Over the course of an hour to an hour and a half, Sara will share her tips and tricks for how to transfer a pattern and stitch a design. She'll cover all the materials that you need as well as the basic stitches to make your piece come to life. Spiral Releases Q2 Update Detailing Bitcoin Development Kit Milestone, Among Other Advances "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"
The update illustrates that the Bitcoin builder community surrounding Spiral is hard at work.
Spiral, the Bitcoin-focused
subsidiary of Block, has released its quarterly update. The
projects Spiral has launched have released new updates and features
for various products, including Lightning Development Kit (LDK),
Bitcoin Development Kit (BDK), Bitcoin Design Community and Bitcoin
Product Community.
The update
described how the Lightning Development Kit's LDK Node
implementation aims to simplify the full suite of LDK APIs,
allowing for an easier payment experience for users. Conor Okus,
one of LDK Node's creators, shared a sneak peek of the technology
during the Advancing Bitcoin 2023 conference in London. At the end
of the workshop, all 30 attendees built a Lightning Wallet from
scratch and made a successful payment.
On the other hand, the Bitcoin Development Kit saw a big milestone with the tagging of its 1.0 alpha release. This release included the new 1.0 framework and integration testing while APIs and internals are still under active development. This quarter, Kotlin, Swift, and Python language bindings can now broadcast raw transactions, create descriptors for BIP44/49/84 templates, access blockchain fee estimation and see more transaction and address info.
The Bitcoin Design Community has adopted Nostr Nets for community calls, and they also recently switched from Slack to Discord, though their Slack is still active. The community has also started a new series called Merchant Product Review, which analyzes bitcoin products and tools for merchants. They went deep on Tiankii, a merchant platform for El Salvadorians, along with the POS terminal functional on Breez.
Lastly, the Bitcoin Product Community was launched this quarter to encourage product managers to shepherd bitcoin projects from inception to completion. They held a Twitter Space to announce the community's formation and what to expect from it.
Developers Alekos Filini and Daniela Brozzoni announced their new hack.bs hacker space in Brescia, Italy. They teamed up with BitGeneration to bring bitcoin education to Italian high school students via talks and the BDK-based training wallet Padawan. Speaking of, this quarter, Thunderbiscuit listed Padawan on the Google Play store. Rajarshi Maitra hosted a "Mastering Bitcoin" cohort through his Bitshala initiative, and Vlad Kwasi published an article in Forbes about using bitcoin in Africa without Internet access.

The Fallacy of Male Supremacy "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"
Feminists have been screaming, insulting, and protesting for decades over male chauvinism, male dominance, and male supremacy. They say men have an unfair advantage. They say men have privilege that women dont have. Even though there are the traditional women who see men in the strong and leadership role, who make the important decisions, and of course who make that money! Rarely will you see a successful woman with a man who makes less than she. Rarely will you see a woman that if she does make more money than her male partner make him feel less than a man at times and berate him for not making as much, whereas men have been accustomed to making more money than their woman and are used to making their lives better without making her feel bad about herself unless she is a selfish user.
Carving away at men
This conditioning has painted men into corner nowadays. What was the once strong and silent John Wayne type of man, rock solid and dependable has been beaten down by the constant criticism of feminists who hate men, but are often married to one who makes their lives very convenient. What started out as a joke in the 1980s generalizing men as couch potatoes whose only redeeming quality was mowing the yard ended up becoming an iconic image that women actually began to believe. So, as families drifted apart, didnt have dinner table conversations anymore, and latch key kids became a large part of the child population, men found themselves challenged, blamed, and vilified for simply being men. Did men really earn this demonization by the left?
Man, the expendable commodity
Let me count the ways that men, in reality, get the short end of the stick. We go off to war by and large to die for our country while, for the most part, women do not engage in combat as they cannot physically keep up with men so that they are a detriment to their unit if they cant carry their part of the responsibilities. When it comes to marriage the No Fault divorce accepted in most states now allows men to lose 50% of their estate or community property whether the divorce was their fault or not, and adultery on the part of women goes without fault or moral judgment in the statutory courtrooms, unconcerned with justice, only twisted verdi...

In Monica Rohans Disappearing Act, Free-Floating Fabrics Disguise Landscapes Under Threat "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
Draped over invisible clotheslines, vintage fabrics conceal seaside vistas, meadows teeming with dried grasses, and craggy walls of stone in Monica Rohans latest works. The artist (previously) renders the vast landscapes of her native Australia in a new series of oil paintings as part of Disappearing Act, her solo show on view later this month at Jan Murphy Gallery in Fortitude Valley, Queensland.
Known for her deft portrayals of pattern and the dimensions of folded textiles, Rohan continues to contrast domestic, human-made material with more organic surroundings. In this series, disembodied limbs draw back the suspended curtains, slowly uncovering the otherwise concealed landscapes. Rohan refers to these small reveals as portals to seemingly idyllic environments beyond that accentuate the way paintingsand art, more broadlyintervene in how we experience our surroundings.
The stage-like nature of the paintings draws connections between the limited duration of theatrical performances and the impending losses caused by the climate crisis as they channel feelings of anxiety and concern toward landscapes under threat, the artist says. Each is serene with calm waters, sunny skies, and an easiness to its existence, and all notably lack evidence of human civilization. Devoid of a body, the hands ad...

Is It OK For Romantic Partners Living Together To Want Their Own Space? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
I wish that everyone would stop and realize that theres no right way to do a relationship. Whatever works for the people involved is right for them, and really, no one else has the right to judge.
OP has never had her own space or own room, even though she has always craved that privacy.
I had never had my own room growing up and share a room with a roommate in my current living situation to save up money. I always felt the need to share and felt guilty when I wanted to be alone in my room but couldnt since someone else was there.
The only time I had a room all to myself was when my roommate or sibling was away. Even so, I didnt feel like I truly had a room to myself.
Now shes getting married, and since she and fiancee will have a space with three whole bedrooms, shes told him she wants to use one of them as her room, where she can be alone when she wants to.
I (24F) and my fianc (25M) are moving into a small 3 bedroom house together in a couple of months.
When discussing the use for one of the spare rooms in our soon to be house, I mentioned wanting to turn it into a bedroom for myself when I want to be alone.
He, however, figured one of the extra rooms would be a gym and the other his office.
And anyway, arent they moving in together so they can be together, not spend time apart?
My fianc was confused and said he wanted to use the spare room for an at home gym instead. The other spare room will be an office for when my fianc needs to work from home.
I argued that he already has a claim over one of the spare rooms and I should be allowed to use the other one for myself.
I told him that I was looking forward to having a space all to myself, where I can be alone when I want, and am the only person that ha...
Long-Time Shelter Dog Says Goodbye to Each Staff Member With a Sweet Kiss "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
All pets deserve to have their furever homes, but some take a little longer to find them. Until then, they often stay in an animal shelter just waiting for that special person (or people) to come along. A pup named Jax was a long-time resident at the Regina Humane Society who wanted nothing more than to find a home.
Jax was brought to the shelter without many details, but it was clear he had spent some time on the streets by himself. He was very thin when he came to the Regina Humane Society and was also ravenous. After getting him fed and officially putting him up for adoption, he developed pneumonia and went into medical care. Once he was back on the adoptable list, people continued to pass him by. But why? The staff there loved Jax and were saddened each time his kennel was ignored.
The sweet pup, the shelter surmised, just wanted to be around people. It wasnt anything aggressive, explained Bill Thorn, the Regina Humane Societys director. He was really suffering from something known as barrier frustration. Hes a super nice dog, but there was a barrier in his kennel, and he couldnt get to people to be with them. He just wanted to be petted, but it could often be off-putting for people.
A sign on Jaxs kennel explaining his situation didnt help. Thats when the staff decided to bring him up to their reception area where he was able to showcase his endearing personality. During that time, he became a bit of a staff favorite because we all knew how nice of a dog he was, but we just had to get him into a place where he could show that.
It took many months, but Jax finally found his human. After being at Regina Humane Society for so long, the staff couldnt just send him off without a proper goodbye. They lined up, and each person crouched down and clapped for the pup as he left for his new home. In a heartwarming video captured by the shelter, Jax gives a little kiss to each person before going into the arms of his...
The Art of Lying Fallow: Psychoanalyst Masud Khan on the Existential Salve for the Age of Cultish Productivity and Compulsive Distraction "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
I suspect our ability to ask the unanswerable questions that Hannah Arendt knew are the heartbeat of civilization is intimately related to our capacity for dwelling in a particular state of being beyond the realm of our compulsive doing. Bertrand Russell called it fruitful monotony. Adam Phillips called it fertile solitude. Walt Whitman called it loafing. The Buddhist tradition describes it simply as presence. Whatever we may call it, amid a culture of filling the existential void with cultish productivity and an endless stream of dopamine-laced distractions, it is nothing less than a countercultural act of courage and resistance to enact such states of being states in which our inner voice becomes audible, the voice with which we sing the song of our lives.
The Pakistani-British psychoanalyst Masud Khan (July 21, 1924June 7, 1989) calls this mode of being lying fallow and unfurls its psychological tendrils in a short, brightly penetrating essay included in his 1983 collection Hidden Selves (...

A Front Company and a Fake Identity: How the U.S. Came to Use Spyware It Was Trying to Kill "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"
The secret contract was finalized on Nov. 8, 2021, a deal between a company that has acted as a front for the United States government and the American affiliate of a notorious Israeli hacking firm. Under the arrangement, the Israeli firm, NSO Group, gave the U.S. government access to one of its most powerful weapons a geolocation tool that can covertly track mobile phones around the world without the phone user's knowledge or consent. Only five days earlier, the Biden administration had announced it was taking action against NSO, whose hacking tools for years had been abused by governments around the world to spy on political dissidents, human rights activists and journalists. The White House placed NSO on a Commerce Department blacklist, declaring the company a national security threat. The secret contract ... violates the Biden administration's public policy, and still appears to be active. The contract, reviewed by The Times, stated that the "United States government" would be the ultimate user of the tool, although it is unclear which government agency authorized the deal and might be using the spyware. Elements of America's expansive national security apparatus in recent years have bought the weapons, deployed them against drug traffickers, and have quietly pushed to consolidate control of them into the hands of the United States and its closest allies. The F.B.I. purchased access in 2019 to NSO's most powerful hacking tool, known as Pegasus, which invades mobile phones and mines their contents.

Censorship by Proxy: How Big Tech Censors Global News Platforms "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"
Big Tech giants and their oligarchic owners now engage in a new type of censorship, which we have called "censorship by proxy." Censorship by proxy describes restrictions on freedom of information undertaken by private corporations that exceed limits on governmental censorship and serve both corporate and government or third-party interests. Censorship by proxy is not subject to venerable First Amendment proscriptions on government interference with freedom of speech or freedom of the press. Censorship by proxy alerts us to the power of economic entities that are not normally recognized as "gatekeepers." For example, in 2022, the digital financial service PayPal (whose founders include Peter Thiel and Elon Musk) froze the accounts of Consortium News and MintPress News for "unspecified offenses" and "risks" associated with their accounts, a ruling that prevented both independent news outlets from using funds maintained by PayPal. Consortium News and MintPress News have each filed critical news stories and commentary on the foreign policy objectives of the United States and NATO. PayPal issued notices to each news outlet, stating that, in addition to suspending their accounts, it might also seize their assets for "damages." Joe Lauria, editor in chief of Consortium News, said he believed this was a case of "ideological policing." Mnar Adley, head of MintPress News, warned, "The sanctions-regime war is coming home to hit the bank accounts of watchdog journalists."

Pentagon Tries to Cast Bank Runs as National Security Threat "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"
In recent months, the Pentagon has moved to provide loans, guarantees, and other financial instruments to technology companies it considers crucial to national security a step beyond the grants and contracts it normally employs. So when Silicon Valley Bank threatened to fail in March following a bank run, the defense agency advocated for government intervention to insure the investments. The Pentagon had even scrambled to prepare multiple plans to get cash to affected companies if necessary, reporting by Defense One revealed. Their interest in Silicon Valley Bank stems from the Pentagon's brand-new office, the Office of Strategic Capital. The secretary of defense established the OSC in December specifically to counteract the investment power of adversaries like China in U.S. technologies, and to secure separate funding for companies whose products are considered vital to national security. The national security argument for bailout, notably, found an influential friend in the Senate. As the Biden administration intervened to protect Silicon Valley Bank depositors on March 12, Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., who chairs the powerful Senate Intelligence Committee and also sits on the Banking Committee, issued a press release warning that the bank run posed a national security risk. Warner the only member of Congress to have publicly tied SVB to national security has received significant contributions from the financial sector. Since 2012, Warner has received over $21,000 from Silicon Valley Bank's super PAC.

US Army awards Lockheed up to $4.5 bln missiles contract "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"
Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N) said on Monday the U.S. Army has awarded a multi-year production contract for Joint-Air-to-Ground Missiles (JAGM) and HELLFIRE missiles, in a deal that could go up to $4.5 billion including follow-on awards. The contract, which will have a total value of $439 million in its first year, is among the first multi-year awards for precision munitions, as the Pentagon looks to build stocks in the hopes of deterring China. In March, President Joe Biden requested $842 billion for the Pentagon and $44 billion for defense-related programs at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Energy and other agencies. The 2024 budget proposal is $28 billion more than last year's $858 billion. Lockheed added the contract also offers three additional follow-on awards which will start in late 2023, allowing for a total contract value of up to $4.5 billion over the next four years. The JAGM program anticipates a "significant increase" in international demand for the weapon system, Lockheed said.
Note: Many benefit financially from warfare when it comes to provoking proxy wars and furthering U.S. agendas of full-spectrum dominance, as thoroughly explored in the book War is a Racket by the highly decorated general Smedley D. Butler. According to a revealing report, at least 47 members of Congress and their spouses hold between $2 million and $6.7 million worth of stock in Lockheed Martin and other companies that are among the top 100 defense contractors.

Jack Black Will Reunite With School of Rock Co-Stars for 20th Anniversary "IndyWatch Feed Arts"
Throughout his career, actor Jack Black has played his fair share of iconic characters in films such as High Fidelity (2000), Nacho Libre (2006), and Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006). But no role has matched the endearing and raucous guitarist Dewey Finn from School of Rock (2003). Not only was this movie praised by critics back when it was released, but it even spawned a Broadway musical and a TV show. Now, as its 20th anniversary approaches, Black has just announced that he is planning a reunion with his co-stars from the film.
Black made the announcement during a red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight. All those kidsdig thisthey were 10 years old when we made that movie and now they're all, like, 30, Black said. Black, who is very active on Instagram, has promised to share images and videos of the encounter.
While Black may be the most recognizable member of the cast, School of Rock propelled the careers of some its stars. Miranda Cosgrove, who played band manager Summer Tinkerbell Hathaway, went on to star in the in the teen sitcom iCarly. And Mike White, who appears as Ned Schneebly, Dewey's responsible roommate, created, writes, and directs HBO's acclaimed series The White Lotus.
Though this will certainly be a momentous occasion, it won't be the first time Black has reunited with some of his co-stars from School of Rock. For the 10th annive...

Where I live is about twenty minutes from anywhere else in Los Angeles. What this actually means is that I live ten minutes from anything when theres no traffic, and forty-five minutes when there is. In reality, theres no given instance during the day when I actually live twenty minutes from any geographical point in LA, but its an easy way to say I live in the middle of town. The area lacks the socioeconomic and demographic cohesion common to most LA neighborhoods, so its not particularly cool or uncool, its just twenty minutes from places that are. Its a neighborhood thats special in the same way a local laundromat is specialyou get people from all walks of life.
The building itself is a small, charming holdover from when old
Hollywood was just called Hollywood. I park on the street, and I
live in one of fourteen modest units, where I am very happy. Ive
lived in old buildings for most of my adult life, and it is my
preference to do so. Of course, there are costs associated with
living in an old building. You might have an occasional leak or
wonky electrical wiring, but these are small problems that can be
solved. As with any formative experience, part of the joy in fixing
them is the skill gained, or the longevity of the solution. If you
fix a leak and you did it right, itll take a second for the leak to
come back. Once youve dealt with something once, it is not such a
tragedy the next time. I think thats what it is to get older: you
get softer with age because youve experienced a lot of things once,
and youre equipped to do them again if you have to. Remember that
first sip of alcohol, or the first cigarette? You turned your back
on your innocence, but you didnt die, so you did it again. However,
when a task requires constant maintenance, there is no finish line,
so there is no small victory. You never feel done, and it becomes
the bane of your existence. The great scourge of my little life,

This croc chasing an alligator is todays most edge of your seat 58 seconds "IndyWatch Feed Satire"
You surely wont be closer to the edge of your seat than you find yourself watching this croc chasing an antelope, a 58-second clip that has just gone wildly viral on Reddit.
No spoilers.
The adrenaline of this scene where a buck swims for his life from a crocodile
by u/CharityNo9966 in nextfuckinglevel
Thank goodness for that. Anyone out there rooting for the croc? Thought not
And people had a theory why the croc kept appearing to change course (and thereby allowing its meal to go free).
Croc accidentally pressed R3 and changed targets for a second there.
Neo-ChromiaI saw that too. He kept going underwater to swim faster but must have started chasing the louder noise of the boat rather than the buck. Thats some good bucking luck.
Firm-GuruThe observer effect. Their act of observing changed the outcome.
EddyArchonYeah kinda feel bad that the croc didnt get dinner but then would feel bad for the buck being dead. Humans shouldnt interfere with stuff like this.
MrNobody312Deer swim surprisingly fast.
nderstandablyscaredEver try swimming for your life? Might be faster than your regular skinny dip.
Exotic_Treacle7438
To conclude
F-ck that was tense.

This LBC presenters takedown of a troll who called her a radicalised feminist was simply brilliant "IndyWatch Feed Satire"
A special shout out to writer, campaigner and presenter Natasha Devon who had the very best response to a listener who contacted her LBC show to say she was a radicalised feminist who didnt deserve her own show.
Natasha, who presented Channel 4s Naked Beach, encouraging people to learn to love their body again, took time out from her show to read the message from the listener called Michael and were very glad she did too, because her response was A++.
